Overcome fears and blockages when riding a motorcycle

Heike E. Burkard

An interview with Heike E. Burkard

Heike, you are an enthusiastic motorcyclist and have been traveling with heavy machinery for many years.

Which motorcycle do you ride the most today?

I’ve been driving a BMW Boxer, R1200 R, for three years now. It’s lowered so that my legs have good stability.

You offer coaching for motorcyclists. What topics do bikers come to you with?

The topics are really very broad – a few examples. Some drivers have difficulty using their machine and are afraid of curves and turning maneuvers in tight spaces. For others, mountain passes are a challenge. Tight and small bends, abysses and heights cause difficulties for you. Often, being overwhelmed by others and the resulting fears also play a role. Some drivers have the impression that they are holding up or slowing down other group members. Fantasies and ideas that something negative could happen along the way are also very blocking.

You also work with logosynthesis in your coaching sessions. Can you give us an example of how you use logosynthesis?

Sometimes you can build on a driving experience: a situation in which things got tight or an accident occurred. Here we can work with the scene or the stressful sensory impressions. As already mentioned, friends or partners often overwhelm you: people go beyond your own limits, dangerous driving situations arise that leave traces: in your head, in your body, in your own energy field. We can also solve these with logosynthesis.

Do you then check with your clients on a trip to see to what extent the stress has decreased as a result of the logosynthesis coaching?

I think it’s important to include practice. The driver sits at the top, the motorcycle is at the bottom. And both form – and for this they have to grow together well – a unit. Together with selected driving safety trainers who take over the practical part, the three of us think about what should be practiced and tried out. This is the additional “future pacing” in which we recognize what has now changed in these previously difficult situations.

What experiences have you had?

I have very nice and positive experiences. It is fulfilling for me to experience these sometimes drastic changes in behavior and also in driving. Drivers often contact us completely unexpectedly and report successful passes, more fun driving, fears that have disappeared and partners and acquaintances who are now happy to travel with them again. And a very important part: By solving your fears and blockages, you are now safer on the road. www.olea-consulting.de
