LIA Privacy Policy
The LIA (Logosynthesis International Association) places great importance on the protection of your data and collects, processes, and uses your personal data exclusively in accordance with the principles of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection („DSG“) and the European General Data Protection Regulation („EU GDPR“) and in accordance with the principles described below.
LIA, located at Kluseggstrasse 14, 8032 Zurich, Switzerland,
is responsible for operating our website www.logosynthesis.international
This website provides up-to-date information about Logosynthesis, the LIA, and the members of the LIA. When you visit this website, we may store certain data about you. We explain this in detail below:
1. General Information
1.1 Personal data refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural or legal person. This includes, for example, your name, phone number, mailing address, and email address.
1.2 As a general rule, we do not collect, process, or use any of your personal data if you visit our website solely for informational purposes.
2. Web Analytics, Cookies, and Social Plugins
2.1 When you visit our website, we use so-called „cookies.“ Cookies are small text files that your browser stores. Cookies do not contain any information that could directly identify an individual user. You can disable cookies in your browser’s settings, or delete them automatically or manually. Please note that our website may then not function as intended, or may no longer function as intended.
2.2 Where applicable, we use certain data about you stored via cookies, in accordance with legal requirements, as part of pseudonymous user profiles for the purposes of advertising, market research, or to tailor our offerings to your needs.
2.3 We also use the web analytics tool Google Analytics from Google (Google Inc., USA) on our website to compile anonymous user statistics. Google Analytics uses cookies. The information generated is processed in the U.S. only in exceptional cases. The U.S. does not have data protection laws equivalent to those in Switzerland. To ensure your privacy, we use a feature that processes your IP address only in a truncated form, thereby preventing it from being linked to you personally. If you have concerns regarding the use of Google Analytics, you can block Google Analytics by, for example, installing a plug-in in your browser.
2.4 Our website also uses features from various social networks („social plugins“).
2.5 Social plugins are buttons on our website. When you visit our website, these buttons do not send any data to the respective social networks without your action. Only when you click on a button is a direct connection established with the server of the respective social network, and that network may collect data and set cookies. For more information about cookies, please see our Cookie Policy.
2.6 If you are logged in to a social network, that network may associate your visit to this website with your user account.
2.7 We have no control over the scope of the data collected by social networks through their buttons. For information on the purpose and scope of data collection, as well as the further processing and use of the data by the respective social networks, and your related rights and privacy settings, please refer to the privacy policies of the respective social networks.
2.8 If you are a member of the respective network but do not want the provider to collect data about you through our website and, if applicable, link it to other stored data, please always log out completely from the respective network before visiting other websites, and also delete any relevant cookies.
3. Disclosure and Use of Data by Third Parties
3.1 We do not disclose your data to third parties unless (i) we are legally required to do so or (ii) you have given us your consent to do so.
3.2 To maintain our website, we must provide certain personal data to our hosting provider, Hostpoint. In this so-called “data processing on behalf of the controller,” these service providers are also contractually obligated to process your personal data only for the same purposes as we do and in compliance with data protection regulations (including the necessary security measures).
4. Special Provisions for LIA Members
4.1 Collection, Processing, and Use of Members’ Personal Data:
Your address information is recorded in our FileMaker membership software and used solely for internal association purposes. It is not disclosed to third parties.
4.2 «Professionals» Directory on the LIA Website
Your address as a Professional member is automatically added to the Professionals directory on the LIA website. You can disable this in your profile at any time. The directory is one of the most-visited sections of the website.
To protect your data, the directory includes the following notice: Addresses may not be used for advertising purposes.
4.3 Newsletter
We automatically register your email address to send you our newsletter. Our newsletter keeps you informed about association activities and contains the latest information for members.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter by sending a reply to the email sender of the newsletter. Of course, you can also revoke your consent for the LIA’s future use of your email address.
4.4. Comments
When visitors post comments on the website, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and user-agent string (which identifies the browser) to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also known as a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. You can find the Gravatar service’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible alongside your comment.
4.5 Contact Forms
The information you provide will be stored for the purpose of communicating with you individually. To do so, you must provide a valid email address and your name. This information is used to identify your inquiry and respond to it. Providing additional information is optional.
5. Access, Correction, Deletion, and Contact Information
You may at any time request, free of charge, information about the data we have stored about you from the contact points listed below. You may also request the deletion or correction of your data. Your data will then be deleted or blocked immediately, unless we are subject to statutory retention requirements; in such cases, the data will be retained but no longer processed until the retention obligation expires.
You generally have the rights to restriction of processing, data portability, withdrawal of consent, and objection.
