Logosynthese Symposium 2021 – Review by Monika

On March 6, the first LIA Online Symposium took place on the topic of «Overcoming Fears and Mental Blocks.» Early this year, it became clear that the planned three-day symposium in Zurich could not take place due to the current COVID-19 situation and would have to be postponed until 2022. Since many people had already set aside time for the event, the board decided at its January meeting to hold a one-day online symposium. Monika Koller Schinca, the event’s organizer and a member of the LIA board, provides a brief recap of the symposium here.

Monika, how was it even possible to put together such a fantastic symposium in such a short time?

Monika:
I wasn’t alone, of course—I had a great core team consisting of Johannes Lauterbach and Martina Klug. Together, we quickly came up with ideas and developed the concept. All of the speakers we approached agreed to participate and were enthusiastic about the event. With Dr. Willem Lammers, Dr. Suzanne von Blumenthal, Christin Aannerud, Karsten Blauel, and Mathias Egger, we had expert speakers on board, and so we were able to put together an exciting and interactive program in a short amount of time. I have to admit, though, that it was an intense two months, with everything that needed to be done. Fortunately, I had a «guardian angel» by my side in my husband, who provided me with expert technical support in building the website. Without him, it wouldn’t have been possible on such a tight budget and in such a short time.

What were the highlights, in your opinion?

Monika:
That’s really hard for me to say. I think the mix of presentations was ideal. On the one hand, there were the theoretical lectures; on the other, the practical examples and interactive exercises. There was something for everyone—both for people who were already familiar with Logosynthesis and for those who were interested but had never encountered this model before. The lively moderation by Ernst Aebi, the LIA president, along with the interview-style presentations, ensured that these five hours never felt boring.

So how many participants managed to stick with it for «five» hours?

Monika:
The number of participants remained fairly constant at around 280 throughout the symposium. Since I knew that some participants had to leave early, new participants kept joining, and the majority stayed for the entire event. So I assume that most people enjoyed it.

Can you share some feedback from the participants with us?

Monika:
I'd be happy to. Here are some of the many comments we've received:

So what's the latest on the 3-day symposium in 2022?

Monika:
The symposium will take place in Zurich from May 6–8, 2022 – provided the COVID-19 situation allows it, which we certainly hope it will. Under the theme «Words Unleash Energy,» we were able to secure all of the scheduled speakers for the new date, and we will carry out the program as planned.
