On March 6, the LIA held its first online symposium on the topic “Overcoming Fears and Blockages.” At the beginning of the year, it became clear that the planned three-day symposium in Zurich could not take place due to the current COVID-19 situation and would have to be postponed until 2022. Since many people had already set aside the date, the board decided at its January meeting to hold a one-day online symposium. Monika Koller Schinca, the event organizer and a member of the LIA Executive Board, offers a brief recap of the symposium here.
Monika, how were you able to organize such an important symposium in such a short time?
Monika:
I wasn’t alone—I had a great team with Johannes Lauterbach and Martina Klug. Together, we quickly brainstormed ideas and developed the concept. The speakers we approached were all on board and enthusiastic. With Dr. Willem Lammers, Dr. We had expert speakers on board such as Suzanne von Blumenthal, Christin Aannerud, Karsten Blauel, and Mathias Egger, and so an exciting and interactive program was put together in a short time. But I have to admit that it was an intense two months with everything that needed to be done. Fortunately, my husband and I had a “guardian angel” by our side who provided me with expert technical support in building the website. Without him, none of this would have been possible on such a tight budget and in such a short time.
What were the highlights from your perspective?
Monika:
It’s very hard for me to say. I think the mix of activities was ideal. On the one hand, there were the theoretical lessons; on the other, there were practical examples and interactive exercises. There was something for everyone. This was true both for people who were already familiar with Logosynthesis and for those who were interested but had never encountered this model before. The lively moderation by Ernst Aebi, the president of the LIA, along with the contributions in the form of interviews, ensured that these five hours were never boring.
How many participants lasted “five” hours?
Monika:
The number of participants remained fairly constant throughout the symposium, at around 280 people. Since I knew that some participants would have to leave early, new participants kept arriving, and most stayed for the entire time. So I assume that most people enjoyed it.
Can you share some feedback from the participants?
Monika:
I'd be happy to. Here are some of the many comments we've received:

Monika:
The symposium will take place from June 6 to 8, 2022, in Zurich. – if the COVID-19 situation allows it, which we obviously hope it will. True to our motto, “Words are free, energy isn’t,” we’ve managed to secure all the speakers scheduled for the new date and will carry out the program as planned.
