Symposium de Logosynthèse 2021 – Review by Monika

The LIA’s first online symposium on the topic «Overcoming Fears and Mental Blocks» took place on March 6. At the beginning of the year, it became clear that the planned three-day symposium in Zurich could not take place due to the current COVID-19 situation and would have to be postponed until 2022. Since many people had already set aside the date, the board of directors decided at its January meeting to organize a one-day online symposium. Monika Koller Schinca, the event organizer and a member of the LIA board of directors, provides a brief overview of the symposium here.

Monika, how was it possible to organize such a large symposium in such a short time?

Monika:
I wasn’t alone; I had a great core team with Johannes Lauterbach and Martina Klug. Together, we quickly brainstormed ideas and developed the concept. The speakers we invited were all on board and enthusiastic. With Dr. Willem Lammers, Dr. Suzanne von Blumenthal, Christin Aannerud, Karsten Blauel, and Mathias Egger—all highly competent speakers—we were able to put together an exciting and interactive program in a short amount of time. But I have to admit that it was an intense two months with everything that needed to be done. Fortunately, my husband and I had a «guardian angel» by my side who provided me with expert technical support while creating the website. Without him, it wouldn’t have been possible on such a tight budget and in such a short time.

What do you think were the highlights?

Monika:
It’s very hard for me to say. I think the combination of elements was ideal. On the one hand, there were the theoretical lectures; on the other, there were the practical examples and interactive exercises. There was something for everyone. This was true both for those already familiar with Logosynthesis and for interested individuals who had never encountered this model before. The lively discussion led by Ernst Aebi, president of the LIA, as well as the interview-style segments, ensured that these five hours were never boring.

How many participants lasted «five» hours?

Monika:
The number of participants remained fairly constant throughout the conference, at around 280 people. Since I knew that some participants had to leave early, new participants kept arriving, and the majority stayed the entire time. So I assume that most people enjoyed it

Could you share the participants' feedback with us?

Monika:

Monika:
The conference will take place June 6–8, 2022, in Zurich – if the COVID-19 situation allows it, which we certainly hope it will. Under the theme «Mots énergie libre,» we were able to secure all the scheduled speakers for the new date, and we will carry out the program as planned.
