LIA members and friends of Logosynthesis
The LIA’s new structure was approved in March. The elected members of the board of directors have begun their work, and I would now like to present to you what we have been working on.
The Structure of the LIA – LIA Mission, Roles, and Responsibilities 2023
What does that mean, and what have we done as the two governing bodies—the board of directors and the board of trustees?
Building on the LIA’s existing mission as an independent, international, nonprofit organization based in Switzerland, we reflected on the future and developed a vision during various online workshops:
LIA is the globally recognized partner that enables individuals and professionals to
Use Logosynthesis for a healthy and meaningful life.
Another important topic was how we wanted to work together as the LIA team. This required additional, intensive work on our team’s goal:
To advance the LIA’s mission by creating a structure that promotes awareness, ensures the quality of practice, and supports members in training, research, and development initiatives around the world. Our team strives to bring our values to life and foster collaboration among members and partners.
We are a diverse group of individuals with different professional backgrounds. It is important to harness and make use of this wealth of experience to bring different perspectives to the table.
What is our process for developing our strategy?
These two findings now serve as the basis for the specialized work being carried out in the various committees, with the goal of bringing our vision to life at all levels of the organization. However, this requires two additional steps.
To move from the vision and mission to the strategy, we apply the design thinking methodology (overview: https://youtu.be/gHGN6hs2gZY). The focus of this process is the user—that is, you as a member or stakeholder of the LIA. In the five stages of design thinking, we explore the fundamental needs of our «clients.» Where does the problem lie?
To that end, we have conducted initial interviews and are currently in the evaluation phase. This allows us to move on to the next step: How can, will, or should the LIA address these needs? I’ll be able to discuss this in more detail next time.
What are our biggest challenges in this endeavor?
This is further compounded by the fact that the entire process must be completed online. There is a time difference of up to 7 hours between Zurich, Canada, and Peru. Working on strategy remotely using tools like Miro isn’t something we’re all naturally inclined to do. We’re learning a lot, but it’s also difficult to focus on both strategy and technology at the same time. However, we’re striving to create an organization that reflects the essence of the model and its members.
A Look Toward the Future
We expect to have drafted an implementation plan that we can present to you by the next general meeting. We look forward to seeing you at the AGM on March 7, 2024.
Best regards
Dr. Heike Rudolf von Rohr

Training institutes serve as a valuable framework for ensuring the quality of Logosynthesis training. The establishment of accredited training institutes is carried out in collaboration with Willem Lammers, founder and owner of the Logosynthese brand. The agreement guarantees the quality of the training and a recognized pathway for practitioner certification.
What does this mean for the LIA? There is now a need and an opportunity to create a new membership level within the International Association of Logosynthesis. Work on this is already underway and will be incorporated into the bylaws at our next general meeting.

What is our process for developing our strategy?
These two findings now serve as the foundation for the specialized work within each committee, with the goal of bringing our vision to life at every level of the organization. However, this requires two more elegant sentences.
To translate our vision and mission into a strategy, we use the Design Thinking methodology. (Overview: https://youtu.be/gHGN6hs2gZY). This process is user-centered—that is, it focuses on you as a member or stakeholder of the LIA. By following the five steps of Design Thinking, we explore the fundamental needs of our «customers.» Where are the pain points?
To that end, we have conducted initial interviews and are now in the evaluation phase. This allows us to move on to the next step: How can/will/should the LIA meet these needs? I'll be able to provide more details next time.
What are our biggest challenges in this endeavor?
All members of the LIA Board of Directors are volunteers who have very demanding jobs in addition to this time-consuming commitment. As a result, workshop meetings are held less frequently than we would like. Furthermore, it is difficult to recruit other volunteers to serve on the committees. If you would like to support the committee’s work, please don’t hesitate to contact us. You can click on the members’ photos on the LIA homepage to send an email directly to the committee chair.
This fact is further accentuated by the need to conduct the entire process online. There is a time difference of up to 7 hours between Zurich, Canada, and Peru. Strategic work on screen using tools like Miro isn’t something we all have a natural inclination toward. We’re learning a lot, but it also requires us to focus on both strategy and technology. Dear members of the LIA and friends of Logosynthesis,
The new structure of the LIA was approved in March. The members of the board of directors have already started their work at the moment and it is my intention to present to you what we have been working on.
La structure of the LIA
What does this mean and what have we been working on as two different administrative entities – the Board of Directors and the Management Board?
And by building on the existing mission of the LIA as an independent, international, not-for-profit association based in Switzerland, we have contemplated future possibilities and established a vision through several online workshops:
La LIA is the recognized global partner in facilitating the use of Logosynthesis by individuals and professionals for a healthy and meaningful life.
The modalities of our collaboration as a LIA team were also discussed. This required additional intensive work on the purpose of our team:
We are advancing the LIA’s mission by creating a structure to promote knowledge, ensure the quality of practice, and support members in global training, research, and development initiatives. Our team is committed to living our values to encourage collaboration among members and partners.
We are different individuals with varied professional experiences. This wealth needs to be activated and used to give birth to multiple perspectives.
What is our process for creating our strategy?
These two results now serve as the basis for specialized work within each council, with the goal of realizing the vision at all levels of the organization. However, this requires two more elegant sentences.
To move from vision and mission to strategy, we use the methodology Design Thinking (panoramic view: https://youtu.be/gHGN6hs2gZY). This process focuses on the user, that is, you as a member of the LIA or interested party. By following the 5 phases of Design Thinking, We explore the basic needs of “consumers”. What is of greatest value?
To understand this, we conducted several interviews and are currently in the evaluation phase. This allows us to tackle the next step: How can the LIA meet these needs? I will be able to answer in more detail next time.
Are the sources the most difficult part of this project?
All LIA members are well-known, with demanding jobs and commitments that take up a lot of their time. This means we’re unable to organize as many workshops as we’d like. Furthermore, it’s a difficult task to recruit even more volunteers to serve on the committees. If you are interested in supporting the work of the councils, please don’t hesitate to contact us. You can click on the photos of the members on the LIA homepage to send an email directly to the council member.
This difficulty is accentuated by the need to complete the entire process online. The time difference can be up to 7 hours between Canada, Peru, and Zurich. Working on strategy on screens with specific applications like Miro isn’t something that comes naturally to everyone. We are still learning a lot, but it’s very demanding to focus on both strategy and technology at the same time. That said, we are committed to creating an organization that captures the essence of the model and its members.
In the near future
We anticipate that before the next General Assembly, we will have developed an implementation document to present to you. We look forward to seeing you there on March 7, 2024.
Sincerely,
Dr. Heike Rudolf von Rohr
